Poor Barney Duke. This guy has been through so much. He was origionally abandoned because he was not wanted, he had contracted heartworm, and the family didn't feel he was "worth" the cost of the treatment. He was then adopted by a couple who had other dogs, cats and kids, and loved his life, they were going to take care of his Heartworm treatments and let him know what a home feels like. The couple a year later returned him because they were divorcing and neither party wanted him. We come to find out that this poor guy was never even treated the past year for his heartworm condition with now has only goton worse, not to mention the pain he is in. We rescued him, and he is at one of our best foster homes prepping him for his HW treatment in 2 weeks. When he comes out of treatment, he will need a calm home to recover in for the next 6-8 weeks, and will most likely need to be crated during that time to keep him calm, we have no doubt that he will make a full recovery. Since he has been at the foster, he has developed some pushy habits, he is desperate for love and has picked fights with the fosters other dogs, so for now, we would recommend that he go to a one dog household. He loves the fosters 2 y/o daughter, and is great with kids. He is a small stocky guy, about 45-50lbs, but is very strong, and needs some leash training. He is about 2-3 years old, is housetrained and neutered.
