Update (July 11,. 2009): Jake continues to keep us laughing...what a LOVER BOY!! Well, Jake spent the past 10 days at Aunt Donna's while I was away and he did great. I picked him up today and we went to the dog park (his first visit) to meet a former foster, Diamond. Jake did GREAT! The funny thing is that Jake and Diamond, suprisingly, seemed to have an instant connection that I cannot explain. There were other dogs there, but these 2 cuties gravitated to each other and played like they knew each other previously. Even though they were at the SPCA at different times, it truly seemed as though Diamond was telling Jake that she too came from that place and was recsued by me one happy night, stayed with me for a little, and then moved into her forever life where she is soooo incredibly happy. It is as though she was assuring him that everything would be okay. Diamond, you see, was one of our very special rescues/fosters because she was/is so full of life and a happy spirit. Jake is very much like Diamond. He LOVES rolling around in the grass, cuddling, and playing with dogs. We think he would truly love a doggie playmate, a fenced in yard to hang out in with his family, and a family that will not treat him as though he is missing anything. He doesn't believe he is, so why should you? If you are looking for an addition to your family that loves kids, dogs and everyone he meets (not too happy with cats), Jake is your man! He is great in the car, a major "hugger" and the best friend you could ever hope for because he will just love you to death...then Jake is your boy! Update (May 10, 2009): It has been 1 week since Jake came to his foster home from the SPCA and he is showing his true colors (he has no idea he is missing a leg, and he does not expect anyone else to notice either - we sure don't). He was neutered and dewormed, so he is feeling better. Jake was at Starbucks with us yesterday and he met a fellow rescue dog, Roxie the rotti, and he did great with her, the kids and all the people he met. Everyone loved Jake! We then went to his Aunt Donna's house and he met 3 more dogs, a bunch of people, and cats and he was so wonderful with everyone. Jake is one of those dogs that just loves life. He is GREAT in the car, likes to play with his 11 year-old min pin foster brother, and loves, loves, loves laying in the grass. Jake is a silly, playful, and sweet boy who just enjoys life!! We are thrilled to have him with us and can't wait until the perfect forever home comes along that will love and spoil him just as he deserves. Update (May 4, 2009): Jake went to the vet today and he is doing great. He weights 34 lbs, but is quite thin as you can see from the pictures. They were unable to determine if he was born without his leg, but it doesn't matter to us. He is a healthy happy boy. Well...we went to the SPCA today to pull a dog and this one really stood out! Lewis (we need a new name for sure) was so happy and loving and quick that it took some time for me to even notice he only had 3 legs!! He's a major sweetheart! Lewis is approximately 1 1/2 years old and we do not know what happened to his front leg. He was brought to the SPCA as a stray like this. We just got him this afternoon (5/2) but already we are in love. He is doing well with our neurotic alpha loud 11 year old min pin who attempted to bite him a couple of times, is napping on the bed, and just a pure joy. He needs to put on some weight, but not too much. He's about 35 lbs and will be neutered on Thursday, May 7th. He is UTD on shots and just a handsome boy!
