Update 12/2/08: Ah, what can we say about Snuffy - his tail never stops wagging?? He has a zest for life?? He's an eternally happy guy! To sum up, he's got a heart of gold! Snuffy is out to meet the world when he goes on walks - he is a strong guy though, so you need to be on your toes, or he'll pull you right off them, but this is being worked on and with a little more training (we've seen an improvement already) he'll be fine. He does have a high prey drive and will chase small furry animals - not sure that he would intentionally hurt them, but may end up stomping on them while playing, either way, I would not recommend him going to a home with little critters. He is currently his 2nd foster home, as he became an experienced escape artist at his previous one. We were very lucky that he's friendly and hard to resist as he was taken in twice by people in the area - but we didn't want to push our luck, so we moved him to where he is now. The original foster had an area in their fence that was chain link - and he would push up and squeeze under. The rest of their fencing was privacy. It's a shame because he and their male JRT were best friends and whenever he sees my neighbor's JRT he gets very excited - he misses his buddy and would do best in a home with another dog for him to play with. Update 10/3/08: He is currently being fostered in Bristol, PA . He LOVES to play with other dogs and he is great with children. His favorite thing to do: Give out free kisses!! Snuffy is approx. 1-1/2 years of age and weighs 50 pounds. He is a very handsome shar pei mix. What a face to love :) Snuffy is just a great dog! He is very friendly - gets along with everyone :) He especially loves children. Before his current placement, he was in a foster home wt=ith three JRT's and 3 children; he adored all of them and was very charming to even the dog that never was interested in playing! He has a wonderful personality, playful/active, healthy, loves affection, cooperative, calm/gentle, eager to please, likes to be around people, good on a leash, enjoys going on daily walks/playing outside and gets along with other dogs. Snuffy would make an exceptional family pet or loyal companion for someone living alone. If you are looking for a medium sized dog, Snuffy would be a great choice! He deserves a second chance at a good life and needs to find his new loving home. We had Snuffy pulled from the shelter on 6/12, as they were getting ready to euthanize due to overcrowding and he had already been held over 1 week because they loved him so much.
