We pulled Chuck the chow from a gassing shelter the day he was scheduled to be put down. However, he is in a temporary boarding situation at a vet's office in SC awaiting transport and he needs to have a place to go as space is limited down there and this vet works with a local rescuer to get as many animals out and safe as possible. Everyone tells us that he is a very sweet boy. He is only about 40lbs, on the small side. He is estimated to be about 1-2 years old and was surrendered by his owner, who kept him on a chain! He has tested positive for heartworm and requires treatment which the rescue will pay for, if you can open your home to foster or adopt this guy, he needs a nice place to rest while recouperating as we cannot start treatment while he is being boarded - it's too stressful of a situation. If you have questions about Heartworm treatment, please let us know - we would be happy to explain the process as we have had many go through it (unfortunately) and have made full recoveries. The kennel had to bath him when he first arrived there in SC due to him being tied out :( However, he is now in good hands but we would love to him in a quieter environment for him to recoop during treatment. As you can see from his pics, he loves all humans alike, does great with other dogs, no experience with cats. He is smaller than he looks in pictures, only about 40 lbs. We think he might be mixed with collie (maybe even sheltie?), golden ret, chow. He has skinny legs like a collie, disposition and looks of a golden, but parts of his coat and tongue spots of a chow! Whatever he is is gorgeous!!
